Have fun with us!
Volunteering at Happy Hooves Experience
We are often seeking volunteers from all backgrounds and abilities. We of course consider safety our priority to everyone concerned therefore can only consider young people from the ages of 15 years. All our volunteers over the age of 18 must hold (or can be obtained during the recruitment process) a current Working with Children Check and Level 2 First Aid.
As the founders of Happy Hooves Experience, both John and Judy hold the above qualifications as well as a National Police Clearance and continually having these updated.
What does a volunteer do?
A volunteer must be able to listen to the facilitator’s and take instructions for the safety of everyone concerned and the safety of our animals at all times.
As a volunteer you would be involved in assisting the facilitators with: attending scheduled events, assisting with handling, setting up and transporting the animals safely. At the time of a session is being underway, if for any reason a client wishes for a volunteer not to be present the volunteer must have the ability to be within close proximity but not directly with that client.
A volunteer may also assist the facilitator with: grooming, handle and manage day to day care  of the equine family. There is a requirement, that the volunteer at any time may be asked to be removed from Happy Hooves Experience, should he/she fail to follow instructions given by management which endangers any person, self or animal. A signed agreement would be arranged.
Would I suit the role?
A person who is willing to commit to attending a arranged regular event, session or outing, somebody willing to learn, take instruction and understand the importance of safety, is an animal lover wanting to have FUN!!!!
It may suit someone wishing to study or have ambitions to work with horses and donkeys in the future.
If a volunteer has difficulty with transport, considerations may be given and transport possibly could be arranged for pick up and drop off. However these considerations will need to be taken into account prior to a volunteer commencing with Happy Hooves Experience (eg. no drivers licence and/or location)
A small commitment is required however as a volunteer the most important aspect of this is reliability to attend when you have committed to that event in the community eg. visit a care facility or clients own home. Once a week, once a month it really doesn’t matter. We love having people enjoy hanging out with us and having fun......no hard yards involved.
One requirement: every volunteer must wear the appropriate PPE, footwear (boots) and wear sun smart clothing.
The benefits of volunteering
The overall benefits for any person wishing to become a volunteer is horse and donkey experience and having FUN!!!!
We provide ongoing support and advice to our volunteers; always work together for the best interest of each and every client, our animals and the community.
